This past weekend marked the 2nd Annual Dreamland Boxing Master’s World Championship, a two day tournament hosted by Dreamland for Masters fighters (age 35+) all over the world. In the two years that we’ve hosted the tournament, we’ve had participants from USA, Australia, Canada, Austria, Russia, England, Germany, Argentina, and all over the US!
Due to how difficult it is to get matched up, many of these fighters travel to compete and do it for the pure love of the sport. Many come without coaches and are assigned one at registration. I volunteered to help and ended up working 35 fights in 2 days – it was a really great experience! 90% of the work is done before the fight itself – and respect to all those who prepared themselves for battle. I admire each and every one of you who stepped into that squared circle and gave it your all. I hope to see you all next year!
Fighter highlight:
- Marc Miller, 72, 160lbs, Houston – Last year, I cornered for him as he won the championship. This year he won in the first round by 1st round knockout and a decision in the final. He’s a beast! ⠀⠀⠀
